Trondheim vikinglag ønsker å holde høy standard, og historisk autentisitet er viktig for oss, og gjennom Trondheim vikingmarked ønsker vi å vise publikum hvordan hverdagen og en kaupang – et handelssted – under vikingtiden kan ha sett ut. En felles interesse for oss i Trondheim vikinglag er håndverk og å formidle vikingtiden på en levende måte. Trondheim vikinglag har som mål å skape en festival som er interessant, spennende og så virkelighetstro til vikingtiden som mulig. Vi baserer oss på arkeologiske og skriftlige kilder når vi gjenskaper klesplagg, møbler, verktøy, spiseredskaper og diverse kjøkkenutstyr, og annet man trenger for å «være viking», noe som skaper en fin ramme og atmosfære for vårt arrangement.

Merk: Pil- og bueskyting, myntslagning og perlemaking koster ekstra. Du får med deg mynt og perle hjem.

Til Trondheim vikingmarked kommer det deltakere fra hele Europa. Felles for dem alle er at de holder på med forskjellig håndverk, selger vakre, håndlagde gjenstander eller formidler vikingtiden på en levende og spennende måte gjennom det som kalles levende historie.

Trondheim vikinglag har gjennom mange år utviklet ulike spennende, morsomme og lærerike aktiviteter og workshops for barn og unge. På Trondheim vikingmarked kan du prøve deg på blant annet perlemaking hvor du kan lage din egen perle av leire, du kan slå en historiske mynter eller lære vikingenes eget skriftspråk og skrive med runer. Hva betyr egentlig ditt navn og hvordan ville vikingene skrevet navnet ditt med sitt skriftspråk?

Krigere fra Bispeliden vil også komme for å vise frem sverd, skjold og kampteknikker fra vikingtiden, og bueskyttere fra Nidaros håndbuelag vil lære deg å skyte med pil og bue.

Uansett hva du liker å gjøre, vil du sannsynligvis finne noe du liker på Trondheim vikingmarked.

I tillegg blir det spennende foredrag både fredag, lørdag og søndag om både historiske klesdrakter, baltiske funn fra vikingtiden, metalldetektorfunn og musikkinstrumenter, for å nevne noen. Hvordan høres instrumenter som de brukte for 1000 år siden ut? Og hvordan fungerer egentlig en metalldetektor? Dette og mye annet får du svar på på Trondheim vikingmarked.

Trondheim vikinglag wants to maintain a high standard, and historical authenticity is important to us, and through Trondheim Viking Marked we want to show the public what everyday life and a kaupang – a trading post – during the Viking Age might have looked like. A common interest for us in Trondheim Vikinglag is craftsmanship and communicating the Viking Age in a vivid way.

Trondheim vikinglag aims to create a festival that is interesting, exciting and as realistic to the Viking era as possible. We rely on archaeological and written sources when we recreate clothing, furniture, tools, eating utensils and various kitchen utensils, and other things you need to «be a Viking», which creates a nice setting and atmosphere for our event.

Note: Archery, coining and bead making cost extra. You will be able to bring your bead and coin home.

Participants from all over Europe come to the Trondheim Viking Market. What they all have in common is that they do various crafts, sell beautiful, handmade items or convey the Viking Age in a vivid and exciting way through what is called living history.

Trondheim vikinglag has developed various exciting, fun and educational activities and workshops for children and young people over the years. At Trondheim Viking Marked you can try your hand at bead making where you can make your own bead from clay, you can strike a historical coin or learn the Vikings’ own written language and write with runes. What does your name really mean and how would the Vikings write your name in their written language?

Warriors from Bispeliden will also come to show off swords, shields and fighting techniques from the Viking Age, and archers from Nidaros håndbuelag will teach you how to shot with a bow and arrow.

No matter what you like to do, you will probably find something you like at Trondheim Viking Marked.

In addition, there will be exciting lectures on Friday, Saturday and Sunday about historical costumes, Baltic finds from the Viking Age, metal detector finds and musical instruments, to name a few. What do instruments they used 1000 years ago sound like? And how does a metal detector actually work? You will get answers to this and much more at Trondheim Viking Market.
